"It's strange that the both of you are together" a friend remarked the other week about John and I.
"Really? How so?" I asked.
"Protestants and Catholics don't usually date each other" came the reply.
That response stunned me somewhat. First off, this is in no way a criticism of my friend who is one of the best people you could hope to meet.
It baffles me that there should be a perceived animosity between the different branches of Christianity in this day and age. If my grandparents who were Buddhist and Catholic respectively could put aside their religious differences, surely it is not such a big ask for Christians to do the same.
So we have different ways of worshipping. But does that really matter? Essentially we worship the same God.
I suppose the only issue that might arise is in deciding whose church to attend when John and I eventually start a family. He is not comfortable in Praise & Worship and I find Mass intimidating.

I find it strange that people find a couple of different religions dating strange...
Actually, the RC church has guidelines for that situation. :P
Just saying.
Andrew: That's true. It shouldn't be considered strange. Not in this day and age anyway.
Nicholas: It does? I actually know very little about the Catholic church.
I do know that some churches strongly encourage their members to marry within their own church though. Very strange.
Even if you guys want to stick with your denominations later on, it shouldn't be a prob. One of our church members has a wife who goes across the road to SFX. No big deal.
As for encouraging to marry within the own church, there's a church in PJ which goes as far as arranging marriages. The pastor decides who you marry. Sigh.
John and I are definitely sticking with our denominations. We're just not sure which Sunday School our children will be attending.
EWW.. There is something very wrong about a pastor deciding who members of the congregation should marry. What happened to freedom of choice?
hur.. you know how I am. Not religious at all. I reckon that so long as you guys don't push what you believe in upon the other, you'll be just fine. :D
P/s: If John should ever get pushy. lemme know, I'll set him right. :P
PK: Yeah. I think so too. As long as we don't impose on each other, everything will be fine.
Hahhaahha.. Ok. I'll let John know. :p Same goes for CT, k. Don't let him boss you around.
